Heart surgery in children's hospital

The Hospital del Nino with its 700 - 800 beds and its departements is the biggest children's hospital in Peru. Most of the Peruvian doctors studied in foreign countries and have a high standard of knowledge. Nevertheless the state has not got the money to buy modern live-saving medical equipment. We delievered six used, completely overhauled kidney-dialysis machines in 1990. With the help of the German embassy a new hospital ward was built. Up to a possible transplantation almost eighty children nowadays are incessantly dialysed. Moreover the ward has acquired five more modern machines

A new era on the kidney dialysis sector started as five used kidney dialysis machines were delievered in 1991 and were used for the first time in 1992. The first modern hospital ward for children was opened. After 13 years, today this ward has 18 machines which keep alive children around the clock.

A machine for bronchoscopy was bought by the Peru-Aid as well. With it foreign material can be removed out of children's lungs without any problems. These are only a few examples of medical equipment which we have been able to deliever among other things also out of the inventory of the German Federal Armed Forces
